about

Inseung Park, an Albuquerque-based scenic designer and painter, holds an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of USA829. With over twenty years of experience, he has designed for regional theatres, festivals, and university productions nationwide. His work has been seen nationally and internationally at venues such as Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, Stages Houston, ZACH Theatre, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, Profile in Portland, Theatre Three in Dallas, Phoenix Theatre Indianapolis, The Winnipesaukee Playhouse, Provision Theatre in Chicago, and Looking Glass Theatre in NYC.

His work balances East Asian elegant restraint with American expressive boldness. He creates text-driven, aesthetically efficient designs that amplify the emotional impact of live storytelling. Collaborative, flexible, and clear in communication, he values the evolving creative process and meaningful dialogue with directors and production teams. Proficient in both traditional and digital media, he’s developed a signature rendering style that integrates CAD visualization, which he showcased at national conferences and workshops.

He has also taught scenic design and related courses — including rendering, CAD, scenic painting, digital media, and design history — at Indiana University South Bend and currently at the University of New Mexico. He has received multiple honors, including nominations for the Joseph Jefferson Award and the New Hampshire Theatre Awards in scenic design. His set design for the film Wake contributed to the production winning the Grand Prize at the Kodak Competition and screening internationally, including at Cannes, LA Asian Pacific, Seoul Net Festival, and Calgary Pan Asian Film Festivals.
